NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Break out the tissues! Our News 12 family got bigger this week when our own Meredith Anderson and her family heard about a pup at the Aiken County Animal Shelter.

Hank the dog cried real tears when he was surrendered by his owner back in December. A shelter worker said his cheeks were puffing out and he was breathing fast, just like a person would when they cry.

Meredith's family heard about the dog and knew they had to make him theirs.

After they went to pick up their new furry friend he sat in Meredith's lap all the way back from the shelter.

Hank was also a Take Me Home dog featured on News 12 This Morning. The shelter's Bobby Arthur describes the lab-bulldog mix as a shy, but an energetic pup. He was also a volunteer favorite

Although his name was Hank at the shelter, but from now on his name will be Hamilton!

We're so happy for Meredith and this sweet dog, Hamilton!
