Pet owners are being offered the chance to win £1,000 if they look just like their furry friends, a jewelry retailer has announced.
Shane Co., which is based in Colorado and has stores in more than a dozen states, is offering the cash prize to whichever pet-human pair most resemble each other.
The Loupe, the jewelry company's blog, shared the details of the contest and invited pet owners to take part.
It posted: "Do you keep your hair short and therefore keep your pet's hair short? Do you wear sweaters so often that your dog has to have one too? With the amount of time we spend with our pets, especially after these past few years, you may not realize that your pet is slowly turning into you.
"That's why Shane Co. is thrilled to announce the launch of our Pet Doppelganger Contest. Share a picture of yourself with your furry friend that you feel resembles you for a chance to win $1,000."
Animal owners must share a photo of themselves and their pet on the comment section of the blog post.
They must also supply their name, email address and birth date, as well as meeting the following requirements:
- A side-by-side picture of you and your pet
- Graphic content will not be tolerated
- Applicants must be 18 years or older and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Disregarding any of the requirements is grounds to be immediately disqualified.
The deadline for the contest is Friday, December 17. Voting on the entries will be completed just after Christmas, on December 27.
The Shane Co. blog post said its team would select and notify the winner by Monday, January 3—in plenty of time to cover your holiday credit card bill.
While most animal owners believe they know their pets inside out, one woman recently got a big shock when she found out what her puppy had been up to after she went to bed.
Lola—who is a cross between a Cavalier King Charles spaniel and a poodle, also known as a cavapoo—was busted after her owner Grace Chapman found evidence of her nighttime adventures on a perfectly placed security camera.
In a clip shared on TikTok and watched more than 3.3 million times, Lola is shown jumping onto the kitchen counter, strolling down the food preparation area and lying down for a nap on the glass hob.
Lola's antics led Chapman to caption the video: "Why my puppy is no longer trusted alone in the kitchen."
