A dog missing for days found her way back home by catching a boat ride down the river. Ethyl is 10 years old. She was found by kayakers on Friday on a bank along the Chariton River in Centerville after being missing for six days. The kayakers said when they saw her on the bank, she was skittish and covered in ticks from the wooded area she was found in. The kayakers were eventually able to get her on a kayak. That's when they found her tag and called her owner. They drifted down the river for four hours before finally being able to get off and reuniting Ethyl with her family. "If we wouldn't have gotten her off the river, there was no way of getting her off that riverbank," said Shakira Sias, of Centerville. "The waters come up so much now that she would have been washed away into that.""She was shaken and scared," said Jessica Rose, of Centerville. "But I don't know about two hours later she was standing up. She was happy. She seemed to actually kind of like floating down the river."The trio said they are already making plans with Ethyl's owner to see her again.
