NYPD rescues dog trapped on Roosevelt Island Bridge

Some of NYPD’s top cops came to the rescue of a small dog that got trapped on the Roosevelt Island Bridge.

New York’s Finest jumped into action to save “Sam,” after the pooch somehow got wedged under the bridge’s walkway, the NYPD’s Special Operations Bureau tweeted.

Members of the department’s Emergency Service Unit made a cut in the roadway, and lowered themselves down to the bridge’s landing over the East River where the dog was trapped.

According to police, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals reunited Sam with his owner through social media.

An ASPCA communications official denied that the organization was involved in the rescue.
