FALLS CHURCH, Va. (ABC7) — After nine puppies were abandoned in Alabama, a local shelter made sure they made it to the DMV - and to some loving homes. With some holiday-themed names, all nine puppies dashed into the arms of fosters and eager children.
-
Less than a week before Christmas, and down in the South
Nine puppies abandoned, not one with a house;
Left in the woods without any care
But a group with big hearts found their situation quite rare.
Pilots and Paws loaded their sleigh -
Were cleared for takeoff and on their way.
From Baltimore to Carolina and back to Manassas
They flew to these puppies so they'd be fostered the fastest.
Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation
Brought the pups right up to their station;
And in just one day after these dogs were alone
Nine families opened their hearts, and opened their homes.
All nine pooches, once safely off the plane
Got shots and baths and holiday-themed names.
“Now, Dasher! Dancer! Prancer and Vixen!
And, Comet! And Cupid! And, Donder and Blitzen;
Have reason to wag
Because families like the Abes brought them into their pad.
In the end, these pups that had little hope to survive
Find themselves in NoVA with a chance to thrive.
This tail is at an end, but also the beginning
With these kids under their masks, undoubtedly grinning.
