This Raccoon Thought His Bath Couldn't Get Better and Then They Brought Out The Bubble Machine

This pet owner took the idea of a "bubble bath" to new heights when they surprised their furry friend with some extra pizzaz in the tub. There are a lot of unbelievable things about the video that surfaced on Reddit. First, the mere fact that a raccoon is enjoying a peaceful bath and later, his unbridled joy when a stream of bubbles cascades upon him.

If you need a little extra joy today, look no further.

The video was uploaded to Reddit's r/aww community on Wednesday by u/sreejithappunni, who does not appear to be the person who took the video. It's received over 20,000 upvotes at the time of publication from Reddit users who can't begin to express how cute, and relatable, the raccoon's surprise is.

The raccoon was simply enjoying a nice bath in his owner's bathtub at the top. He's surrounded by soapy water and even some bath toys, which he seems incredibly interested in. Then, the owner pulls out a bubble gun, which rapidly shoots the sudsy excitement in the direction of the tub.

In response, the raccoon stands on his back feet and tries to catch the bubbles. His mouth hangs open in concentration and what looks a whole lot like utter bliss!

A viral video from 2015 shows a similar response to bubble magic when a chameleon named Laura stood on her owner's hand to reach for bubbles, too. Laura's response was similar: to reach for the bubbles with her adorable mitten hands and "pop them" as her owner encouraged. Maybe it's a typical response from animals to try to capture the unidentified floating objects as they approach. Or maybe, the Internet has really been blessed with creative animals.

Reddit seems to think the raccoon's bubble reaction was extremely rare. Many commenters claimed the joyful, manic reaction to the bubble parade is how anyone should react when they're graced with endless bubbles. "To be fair, that's what I do when I see bubbles," wrote u/captjust.

Others had questions, like why a raccoon is relaxing in the tub to begin with. "Everyone is like 'oh look at the cute raccoon trying to catch the bubbles' and I'm like 'why the F do you have a raccoon in your house in your bathtub?!?' Isn't THAT the story?!?" asked u/tthrivi.

And some commenters shared straight disdain for raccoons, both as animals and as pets. While many users expressed their want for their own raccoon pets, others slammed the idea and called the animals dirty, vicious and more.

The conversation doesn't need to be any deeper than the raccoon's bathwater, though. However vicious the raccoon, in the wild or in captivity, it appears that wrath can be temporarily forgotten as the bubbles fall over their happy shoulders.
