CHP officer saves choking baby on I-80 in Solano County
A California Highway Patrol officer was able to save a choking baby on Interstate 80 in the Fairfield area, authorities say.Officers responded to a medical emergency call along I-80 near Red Top Road on Saturday evening. When they got there, one of the officers was handed a baby who was not breathing and unresponsive, CHP said in a news release Tuesday. The officer, who had medical emergency training, was able to dislodge an unknown item from the baby's airway and get the child breathing again. Mother and baby were taken to an area hospital to be checked out, but CHP said both are expected to be OK.
