Two Rye sisters are being hailed as heroes for their quick thinking and courage when their home was engulfed in flames.
The fire broke out in the second floor apartment Thursday. Instead of waiting on firefighters, Catherine, 18, and Ali, 10, Gonzales took matters into their own hands.
Catherine called 911 and immediately began pouring jugs of water onto the smoke billowing from the kitchen of the apartment. Ali ran downstairs, grabbed a hose and did the same.
Their heroic acts were caught on their neighbor's Ring camera.
Within minutes, dozens of firefighters arrived and took over quickly putting out the smoke. They credited the sisters for their actions, especially Ali.
Everyone made it out safely, but there is extensive damage to the building.
There is no word on what caused the fire.
