Gassett said she added Maisy — who is nonverbal and will start preschool in the fall — to a list of children with autism who would like to receive letters in the mail to help with social skills during the coronavirus pandemic."I was very happy when she got a letter, but was not expecting her to be as excited as she was or to really understand the concept (I sang the 'Blue's Clues' song 'We Just Got a Letter' to help explain)," Gassett posted on social media. "She felt very special to have something in the mail to open of her very own. She even helped me decorate the envelope to write back to her new pen pal."In the social media post, Gassett asked her friends if they'd like to send Maisy, whose birthday was June 14 but couldn't have a party because of the pandemic, a letter or birthday card."I know that it would make her feel very special and loved," Gassett said. You can mail letters or birthday cards to the address listed below:Maisy Gassett809 Carnes CirclePerkins, Oklahoma 74059
