GREENE Co., Va. (WSET) -- Virginia State Police have come to the rescue of three baby deers whose mother died.

According to a Facebook post from VSP, Trooper S. Gregory, Trooper J. Reaves & Trooper D. Randall were able to locate and rescue the triplets after their mother was struck and killed in a crash Wednesday morning, May 20 in Greene County.

Images of the encounter show the fawns curled up and being held by officers.

They say the fawns were transported to a nearby animal rehabilitation center.
