Bloodhounds with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office helped rescue a missing canoer.

A report states the unidentified man was dropped off at Coldwater Creek on Tuesday to go canoeing, but never returned.

His family alerted authorities around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

Santa Rosa County Sheriff deputies and Skyline Fire launched a search on land and water for the missing man.

They were able to recover the canoe, a cooler, and another personal item on a sandbar, but the man was nowhere to be found.

Deputies called in the Sheriff’s bloodhounds, K-9’s Copper and Zinc, for assistance.

They found him hunkered down and in need of assistance.

The missing man ultimately received treatment by EMS, but no other details were released.

As K-9’s Copper and Zinc left the scene, they were called to go hunt down two suspected burglars near MaKenna Circle in Pace.

Once on the scene, they located Juwan Trason Rease hiding inside a shed in a backyard, and a second suspect hiding behind a trash can.

Both were arrested thanks to K-9’s Cooper and Zinc.
