Joeys spend nine months in their mother's pouches which are essential to their development. Some pouches have straps for rescue workers to wear while carrying the baby kangaroos,” the sheriff’s office said. Wildfires have been burning across Australia for months and have scorched millions acres of land, impacting half a billion animals in New South Wales alone. The fires have been particularly devastating for Kangaroos and koalas.
