THE PROGRAM KNOWN AS THE "BARK VOYAGE" WILL BRING PUPS TO DEDHAM, WEYMOUTH, WRENTHAM, AND NEEDHAM. THE DOGS WILL PLAY A CRITICAL ROLE IN SUPPORTING SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS AS THEY WORK WITH CHILDREN IN CRISIS. ONE OFFICER FROM EACH OF THE FOUR COMMUNITIES WAS SELECTED TO BE PAIRED WITH A PUP. The Dedham Police Department has an adorable new member of the force.The department posted photos Monday of its new Community Resource dog as the pooch started its first day on the job.The pooch checked in at the police station before heading out for training. Officers were all smiles as they greeted their four-legged coworker! Dedham was one of four communities that received a dog as part of a new program through the Norfolk District Attorney's office. Students at Dedham Middle School will vote on a name for the dog.The pups will play a critical role in supporting school resource officers as they work with children in crisis.One officer from each of the four communities was selected to be paired with a pup.The English cream breed of golden retrievers was specifically selected because of its laid-back nature.
