When a senior cat was recently brought to the New Hampshire SPCA after her owner passed away, the shelter knew they needed to find a home for this beauty right away. It turns out the kitty was much older than first thought, which made finding a new home that much more urgent.
A Facebook post on November 11 sent out a plea for an immediate home (preferably as an only pet) and they’re happy to report as of November 14 ‘Princess Tigger’ has been adopted.
“Princess Tigger was brought to us when her owner passed away. Initially, we guessed this beautiful girl to be around 17 years of age, but when verifying her micro-chip we discovered that our Princess is nearly 21 years old! This is, by far, the oldest kitty we’ve ever had available for adoption—and we need your help!
We are urgently looking to find her a home to get her out of the shelter, fast. Senior cats in a shelter environment are more susceptible to illness. As you can imagine Princess is confused and stressed—she lost her only home and her person. We spend time with her daily, petting her and giving her as much love as possible— but nothing can replace the feeling of a real home.”
The SPCA added a heartfelt thank you after the adoption took place
“And from all of us who have worked/volunteered at the shelter for so many years that we remember the days that it was impossible for us to place cats older than 8 years old– this moment is extraordinary.
Our community is simply amazing. Your constant support of our work, and the willingness of our adopters to open their hearts and homes to animals of all types, ages and circumstances, make the impossible–possible over and over again.”
However long this senior girl has left (and it could be several years since medical issues are better understood these days), it’s nice to know Princess Tigger will be in her new home where she’ll be treated like the princess she is.
