Bruce Turnbull’s 15-year-old Chihuahua, Roxie, was inside his 2017 Kia Forte when it was stolen from a Publix parking lot in Deltona over the weekend, according to Volusia County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Laura Williams.

But now, Roxie is safe.

The dog was reunited with Turnbull, 63 of Orange City, Monday, Williams said.

The incident occurred shortly before noon Sunday when Turnbull left the Forte running with keys in the ignition as he returned a shopping cart, Williams said. When Turnbull turned around, the suspect was driving his car away.

Turbull’s Forte is blue, has dark, tinted windows and bears the Florida license tag DMWN47.

No other details were released regarding the circumstances of Roxie’s return to her owner or where the case stands with finding the suspect or the stolen vehicle.

The name of Roxie’s owner was not released.
