It's probably one of the sweetest reunions you've seen in a long time.
The Spartanburg Police Department is getting a lot of attention this week after posting a video Wednesday of a little dog being reunited with its owners.
Officer Jennifer Watson told WYFF News 4 that she found the dog while driving Wednesday about 3:30 p.m. on South Converse Street near Duncan Park.
The dog was eating from a trash bag, but when Watson approached, she walked right up to her and rolled over.
Watson took the dog to Animal Control, where she was scanned for a microchip.
Through that technology, Watson was given the phone number of the Hannon family in Gaffney.
"Turns out, Maria (the pup) had been missing since July, and they were so happy to hear that she had been found," the post read.
Watson posted video of the dog being reunited with a woman whom the post called Maria's "Mom," but Watson said was Krystel Hannon.
On Thursday, the story took an even more adorable turn when police posted video of a surprise reunion with the rest of the Hannon family.
Four girls reacted with shock, joy and tears when little Maria was placed in their arms.
Watson used both posts as an opportunity to stress the importance of getting pets micochipped.
The service is offered by many humane societies and other shelters in the Upstate.
